Partnership levels
Interested companies can choose between different partnership levels, based on their prior experience in the hydrogen sector or in the production of hydrogen systems, and on their intended business goals. The three partnerships — Starter, Expert and Champion — build on one another, with each level integrating the services of the previous one. You can join at any level, with the option to develop the partnership step by step.
01 Starter
Entry: build up knowledge and networkThis level centers on building technological and economic knowledge for producing hydrogen systems, together with exchange with the key stakeholders of the value chain. It also offers contacts with experts in thematic working groups.

For companies experienced in H₂ system production + Includes all Starter-level servicesThis level is aimed at companies that have already gained experience in producing hydrogen systems and in tackling specific questions or manufacturing challenges. Within the Referenzfabrik.H₂, dedicated competencies and infrastructure are available to develop solutions — from concept to implementation. Through a bilaterally defined scope of research, tailored solutions are created, for example:
- Concept and engineering

03 Champion
For scaling prototype solutions into industrial series production + Includes all Expert-level servicesThis level is intended for partners who already master defined process steps or services of the value-creation community and want to scale prototype solutions into industrial series production. Champions have access to the Referenzfabrik.H₂ infrastructure for prototype manufacturing and quality control, in order to build tailored interface competency — for example for integration into supply chains. The »Champion der Referenzfabrik.H₂« label also makes it possible to integrate materials, tools, machines and equipment into the existing infrastructure, connect them with the latest solutions of the participating Fraunhofer institutes, and make them available to a broad market.
